Salta - Purmamarca

Picked up from hostel at 7 in the morning.
Small car with Pablo the driver. Expected to be taken to bigger bus but instead we realised that we were the only participants on the trip - with another danish couple. Christian and Pernille. From Copenhagen. Small world now and then.
Rain for the first hour. Pablo had to do a short pitstop to pick up some coca leaves he could chew during the day. Only small 40 gram bag. Interesting smell and interesting drive.

Headed out of Salta town. Railroad. Steam locomotive first stop
Gravel roads and small streams crossing here and there. No problem for a Berlingo with Pablo as the driver. "Company car" as he said.
Fantastic scenery all day. Desert, mountains, valleys, traces of railroad, people, inca ruins - everything here and there.

Several personal altitude records including passing 4170 meter pass in the afternoon.

Salt plains after lunch seemed more like a place on the moon.

Purmamanca. Arrived at 5 in the afternoon. Had coffee and were dropped of at hostel. Nice place with a room for us. Met with the guys from New Zealand and agreed on dinner at 7.
Went for a local place - but arrived a bit early - before 8 so we had to wait outside for the restaurant to open.
Great food and large beers for dinner.
