Headed north on the coromandel pensinula. Took an hour to drive 50 kilometers on the narrow road right on the edge of the sea. Had a short stop in Coromandel Town at very nice cafe that did good smoothies.
Headed east for the hot spring beach.
Many people there. Was there a bit to early for low tide so we waited and got a nice sunburn. More and more people arriving and digging in the sand. Made a nice spa pool after about 1½ hours of waiting. Headed back to the car. Beach still crowded with people. The 5$ rent-a-showel guy looked like he had had good business.
Drove a few kilometers to the Cathedral cove walk. 30 minutes walk to a beautilful beach. Wanted to spend more time there but it was late in the afternoon and we had some driving ahead of us. Drove south along the coast and had real trouble finding the road.
Made it to our ex-shopping mall hostel. Not as we expected. Felt like staying in an abandoned office....
Hot stone dinner before heading to bed.
